CONCERTO IN 37 1/2

Creation 2023

Ana Pérez is a virtuoso. Specifically, a 37.5. She dances flamenco as a recognized expert, transcending both the subject matter and the confines of Andalusia! With a mastery that grants her the freedom to act at will, she exudes a telluric energy that resonates long after the performance. Her technique, though evident, remains invisible. It’s a tremor dear to Édouard Glissant, echoing with the audience, a music of relation and intensity. Because Ana Pérez is also, first and foremost, a musician. And rhythm is not the question here. Rhythm is often just the elegance of pulsation. The melodic sense of this concerto for shoes reveals the lyrical force of impact on a floor. It’s all a matter of construction and poetry. A melody emerges throughout a fertile dialogue subtly unfolding on stage.
